East King County Regional Water Association

The East King County Regional Water Association is a strong advocate for the autonomy and continued self-governance of "smaller to mid-sized" municipal water purveyors. There is a need for a "growing community doctrine" to allow water systems to plan, finance and grow into water rights. The EKCRWA is an active participant and provides a "strong voice" for local water purveyors on the following committees /organizations:

Central Puget Sound Water Supplier's Forum

  • Water Supply Planning Committee
  • Conventional Water Supply / Institutional Constraints Workgroup, Chair
  • Communications Committee

Washington Water Utilities Council

  • Water Rights Committee
  • Legislative Committee
  • Water Conservation Committee

Aquifer Storage and Recovery Technical Advisory (Rule-Making) Committee, Washington Department of Ecology

Water Storage Task Force, Washington State Legislature / Washington Department of Ecology

Water Conservation Coalition of Puget Sound

  • Board of Directors
  • Communications Committee

Water Resources Advisory Committee, Washington Department of Ecology

The EKCRWA, in partnership with Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), has conducted extensive research, exploration and planning into the development of the Snoqualmie Aquifer Project. Recent evaluations of Tri-County regional water supply options, including SPU's for the Tacoma Second Supply Project, have shown the Snoqualmie Aquifer project to be cost effective and provide potential ESA mitigation benefits through enhancement of the Snoqualmie River.
